Title: Girlfriend in the hospbital Post by: Dragonoake on October 08, 2008, 08:00:02 pm Thump fell Tuesday afternoon and broke both bones in her left wrist.
They were going to do surgery that night to put a plate in her wrist, but then they looked at her chart ...... "You're diabetic? Heart/kidney problems? History of stroke?" etc. etc. Then they decided not to do surgery until they got approval from a couple of the specialists she's been seeing. They did the angiogram Monday, and discovered that her heart problems are worse than suspected ... Possibly a lot worse. The doctors says, if they do nothing, she has a 50/50 chance of living another two years Seems that she had blockages averaging around 70% (from a couple at 30% to one at 99%) in 8 or 9 spots in her coronary artery; and a heart action of 30% (apparently they consider 50% to be normal). The biggest thing they are worried about right now is the fact that the artery that was 99% blocked feeds a large part of the tip of the heart, and they are uncertain how much damage has been done to it They had a conference with the heart surgeon, kidney specialist, lung specialist, neurologist, etc. yesterday to determine what they can do without causing more problems than they solve, and have decided that they are going to do a triple-bypass tomorrow morning at 8:00. She may be lucky she fell so this stuff was discovered. She (and you) will be in my prayers, especially in the morning.
