Interesting article, thanks for posting it. “His mission is that he has to be put to death by the Romans to suffer so his blood will be the sign for redemption to come,” Mr. Knohl said. “This is the sign of the son of Joseph. This is the conscious view of Jesus himself. This gives the Last Supper an absolutely different meaning. To shed blood is not for the sins of people but to bring redemption to Israel.” I thought that may be the 'new' thing about the found, although I'm also confused about the article and don't know much about bible studies. Wouldn't it also fit in with the themes of Exodus?

And I'm going to be seeing a doctor about this, you bet. Though I may come to the conclusion of "one baby is enough". or find a handy little orphanage to rob. (read that as: adopt in a conventional manner, while humming the Mission Impossible theme) Oh my, I just read this thread. That happened all very quickly. (((((Shadow and family))))) But whatever you decide to do, I have the impression you possess the strength to go through it.

((((((Melamphoros)))))) Are you still living with them or do you have your own place? My parents divorced when I was about 13/14 and that was just one station in a long drama. Now my father seems to have dropped of the face of earth, no family member knows where he is. His parents are searching for him because they don't expect to live much longer. But it's not my mess. It helps to live your own life. I'd help them a bit in a way I can, but you can't solve their problems. Also I would be careful about taking any sides if accusation come up like 'it's all his/her fault that we separated' or 'this person had a bad influence on her/him'.

real live apple strudel made by a real live German? I don't know how to make it the traditional way. I just buy raw puff pastry and fill it with apples and other stuff. (And puff pastry is French.) I love how in Germany the birthday person is responsible for making cake for the party, and then waits for her friends to come over and lavish her with gifts (or anyway that's what Jana says...maybe she's just using her gullible American friends for gifting purposes... ) That's how it's usually done in Germany with friends. In family the parents or the siblings sometimes bake the cake. How do you celebrate a birthday in the US? BTW, I had two American flatmates who could bake very yummy cookies. American cookies are very different from German ones, they often contain much more butter/oil and egg.

What is your opinion of SMFforfree as a backup board? I know is occasionally bogs down and gets slow and has google ads for all, but it is functional as a backup board?
It's the people and the topics that matter to me mostly. Board layout is just an additional comfort if it's done well. It annoys me that I have to scroll sidewards for reading posts because the board is too wide for my screen, but as Rose said, it's like camping. I guess if something big happened to the original board for a longer time than just a few days we could even start our normal discussions here and just continue them later on the main board by putting links into the threads refering to the backup. What worries me more is that I'll leave the student dormitory soon and won't have free internet access anymore then. I'll soon have less time and maybe not enough money to pay a flat rate, so maybe for the next two years I'll only manage to come here once a week through an internet cafe. That worries me, I already miss the lively discussions with you all. But well, life just is sometimes like camping.
