Accounts will be much the same, So we shouldn't need to re-register
Including avatars, bios, notices, blog entries & all?
2  Cauldron Basics (All Members Can Post) / Backup General Discussions (Post Here When Main Board Down) / Is the main board down? on: September 12, 2008, 12:58:42 pm
Can't reach it for some reason...  Huh
3  Cauldron Basics (All Members Can Post) / Backup News Posting (For When Main Board Down) / Re: Tablet Ignites Debate on Messiah and Resurrection on: July 07, 2008, 02:09:17 am
Interesting article, thanks for posting it.

Quote from: article
“His mission is that he has to be put to death by the Romans to suffer so his blood will be the sign for redemption to come,” Mr. Knohl said. “This is the sign of the son of Joseph. This is the conscious view of Jesus himself. This gives the Last Supper an absolutely different meaning. To shed blood is not for the sins of people but to bring redemption to Israel.”
I thought that may be the 'new' thing about the found, although I'm also confused about the article and don't know much about bible studies. Wouldn't it also fit in with the themes of Exodus?
4  Cauldron Basics (All Members Can Post) / Backup Prayer Requests (For When Main Board Down) / Re: More Melamphoros Family Drama on: July 05, 2008, 02:48:11 am
I have my own place but I spent the past few weeks with them.
I'm glad you don't have to decide then at which place to live. You can just visit one or the other how often you like without the other one noticing and getting jealous or something. Luckily I hadn't to decide either, my dad just ran off.

And I'm going to be seeing a doctor about this, you bet.  Though I may come to the conclusion of "one baby is enough".

or find a handy little orphanage to rob. Cheesy  (read that as: adopt in a conventional manner, while humming the Mission Impossible theme)
Oh my, I just read this thread. That happened all very quickly. (((((Shadow and family)))))

But whatever you decide to do, I have the impression you possess the strength to go through it.

((((((Melamphoros))))))

Are you still living with them or do you have your own place?

My parents divorced when I was about 13/14 and that was just one station in a long drama. Now my father seems to have dropped of the face of earth, no family member knows where he is. His parents are searching for him because they don't expect to live much longer. But it's not my mess. It helps to live your own life. I'd help them a bit in a way I can, but you can't solve their problems. Also I would be careful about taking any sides if accusation come up like 'it's all his/her fault that we separated' or 'this person had a bad influence on her/him'.

I've NEVER heard of this before
Me neither and I was raised Catholic, though there's no theologican in my family and popular beliefs can vary from church teachings.
9  Cauldron Basics (All Members Can Post) / Backup General Discussions (Post Here When Main Board Down) / Re: Opinion of Backup Board? on: July 03, 2008, 02:01:42 am
Weirdly enough, there seems to be a better selection of avatars on the backup board.

Unless I just didn't see them all on the main board.  It's quite possible.
Yeah, they are really pretty, though not especially Pagan. But then my colorful sig makes me look enough like a crazed fluffy, I don't need a dotted moon or a rainbow colored pent as addition.  Cheesy

FierFlye, I love your avatar here.

You should try their rum cakes.  My MIL's just about gets you drunk by cutting it!  Shocked
That I can actually make without buying prepared pastries. I like them with nut powder, chocolate and rum, one can also combine that with some fruits like cherries. I've even tried it with whisky, which tastes also good.

I have an aunt in the black forest, who is very Catholic and very strict and mean, but she can bake the best black forest cake I've ever eaten.

real live apple strudel made by a real live German?
I don't know how to make it the traditional way. I just buy raw puff pastry and fill it with apples and other stuff. (And puff pastry is French.)

I love how in Germany the birthday person is responsible for making cake for the party, and then waits for her friends to come over and lavish her with gifts (or anyway that's what Jana says...maybe she's just using her gullible American friends for gifting purposes... Wink)
That's how it's usually done in Germany with friends. In family the parents or the siblings sometimes bake the cake. How do you celebrate a birthday in the US?

BTW, I had two American flatmates who could bake very yummy cookies. American cookies are very different from German ones, they often contain much more butter/oil and egg.
12  Cauldron Basics (All Members Can Post) / Backup General Discussions (Post Here When Main Board Down) / Re: Opinion of Backup Board? on: July 02, 2008, 02:38:46 am
What is your opinion of SMFforfree as a backup board?  I know is occasionally bogs down and gets slow and has google ads for all, but it is functional as a backup board?
It's the people and the topics that matter to me mostly. Board layout is just an additional comfort if it's done well. It annoys me that I have to scroll sidewards for reading posts because the board is too wide for my screen, but as Rose said, it's like camping.

I guess if something big happened to the original board for a longer time than just a few days we could even start our normal discussions here and just continue them later on the main board by putting links into the threads refering to the backup.  Cool

What worries me more is that I'll leave the student dormitory soon and won't have free internet access anymore then. I'll soon have less time and maybe not enough money to pay a flat rate, so maybe for the next two years I'll only manage to come here once a week through an internet cafe. That worries me, I already miss the lively discussions with you all. Sad

But well, life just is sometimes like camping.

Hmmhhmm, there is not a reason to put that cake away......  Wink Cheesy
Um, it's several months old now...

I could make a new one. Do you guys like apple strudel (sp?)?

Tana, I was planning to finally answer to your PM, but then the board was gone.

Hey, can't reach the original Cauldron. What's going on? Bubbling too strongly?

*brings coffee and cake for the backup-party*
It works now. *puts the cake into the frigde for the next occassion.*
