What bothers me is closing 600 stores and laying off 12,000 people means that the management GREATLY over-expanded in recent years.
That's exactly what I thought when I read the story. I don't go to Starbucks in general (and I don't think I've even been to a coffee shop since college...I prefer my wife's chai and custom tea blends), but when you live in the sticks like I do and can STILL get to 3 different Starbucks with a less-than-15-minute drive, it's a pretty good sign they've overexpanded just a tick. Especially considering that what most people around here think of as a "coffee shop" is going to McDonalds.
