Depends really.

The board was down for a few days twice this year.  The fact of the matter is that the server the forum is on is dying.

Its old, and the various bits are wearing out (Heat strain and mechanical wear would be my best guess)

I Think the server is 7 years old? I've been on the board around 2 years (ask shad how old swuggy is then subract 2 months) and we've had multiple lots of software but the machines always been the same.

Really is a lot of work for a machine which was probably built for a three year lifespan.

It's not at Randall and Lyric's house.  The actual machine is Bob's (screen name: bobthesane) and I think it's somewhere in Albuquerque, NM where Bob lived before moving during the first TC Meltdown.

Bob's server is ten years old and is dying.  We have a new Linode Virtual Private Server which will hopefully work for us, but it isn't completely set up yet (email server is needed --  for board registrations, notifications, etc -- which I've never setup before and if you do it wrong people can spam through the server) so we haven't moved yet.

Worse, the last good backup of TC's database I have is from October 2nd.

You see I had no idea that a server was a machine Huh Tongue  I just thought a server was some sort of online thingy.  So this board will be moving soon?  thats cool.  a whole new Reincarnation?
